Type of Employment: Full Time (40 hrs/week)

Salary: Starting salary will be between $19.00 - $24.00 per hour (approximately $34,777 - $43,929),plus excellent benefits. Additional compensation up to $2.97 per hour may be given for relevant credits beyond a Bachelor's degree. A twelve-month probationary period will be required. This position is in pay schedule 13, pay range 04.

The Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI) is currently seeking applicants for a full-time, school-year (88%) Cognitive Disabilities Teacher. This position is located at 1700 W. State Street, Janesville.

The WCBVI operates a residential school for state residents ages birth to twenty-one who are blind and/or have multiple disabilities. The school provides academic and career education on site.

Position Summary:

Approximately two thirds of the student population at WCBVI have mild to severe cognitive disabilities (CD) in addition to being blind or visually impaired. This position will adapt/develop appropriate curriculum and provide classroom instruction to primary, elementary, and/or secondary visually impaired students who have additional handicaps or learning problems; identify, administer, score, and interpret assessments appropriate for each assigned student; and establish an awareness of correct Individualized Education Plan (IEP) assessment processes and prepare documents following WCBVI, state and federal guidelines.

A minimally qualified candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Cognitive Disabilities (810) with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
