Dave Ballmann is Transition Specialist and Parent Liaison for families of students who are age 14-21. In this role, he assists students and their families in planning for life after high school. Previous to this, Dave worked as a Rehabilitation Teacher for the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Here he taught independent living skills, Braille and technology to adults with vision loss. Dave grew up in Milwaukee and attended Milwaukee Public Schools, where he learned Braille, an invaluable part of his life. He has a transition certification from the University of Kansas and a masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is the coordinator of the Summer EmployAbility Program at the WCBVI, provides Life After high School events throughout the state and meets with students and their families to plan for adult life. Dave’s goal is full community participation for all. Dave enjoys family, music, cooking, and all that Madison has to offer.
