Cheerleading

Our cheer team encourages our athletes as they strive to do their very best.  WSBVI has two squads.  Our Mat/Pep Squad performs various cheers at pep rallies throughout the school year.  They learn the basics of cheerleading and how to be peppy, energetic, and to convey that spirit to the other athletes.  They begin memorizing cheers and practicing rhythm and basic movements.

Our Varsity Squad is our traveling squad that creates their own cheer routine and competes against other schools for the blind in January of each year.  They are judged on originality, spirit, coordination, and enthusiasm.  From among these cheerleaders, one is chosen to compete in the “Outstanding Cheerleader” competition, where he or she creates an individual routine.

In 2014, the WSBVI Cheer Squad placed third for the second year in a row at the NCASB tournament.  In addition, our team was awarded the Spirit Award for having the most enthusiasm and team spirit.  Finally, Charles Burke earned a fourth place in the Outstanding Cheerleader competition.  Overall, it was a great season for the Badgers!
