Assistive Technology Loan Program
The WCBVI Assistive Technology Loan Program lends out devices for periods of no more than three months to try before you buy. Some items may have a shorter loan time if they are in high demand. Short term loans will help make limited inventories of AT devices more available for districts to make good decisions regarding equipment purchases.
Requests are filled for equipment in the order that completed Capital Equipment Loan Request Forms are received. We will often run out of inventory before we fill all requests for equipment. Therefore, do not rely on this process to meet IEP requirements! If you already know what the student needs, your district should arrange to purchase the items needed to fulfill the student's IEP.
The lending policy described above is not true of large stationary CCTVs (i.e, Aladdin B&W, Aladdin Classic, Aladdin Pro 75, Aladdin Rainbow Elite, Aladdin Rainbow Pro, or Merlin CCTV). Long term loans for these items will continue until a decision is made to change the policy.
To request an item for loan to be used by a Wisconsin student who is blind or visually impaired, submit a Equipment Loan Agreement Request Form that can be found on the Outreach Service Portal. Inventory quantities reported on the WCBVI websites are estimates. Actual quantities may vary due to inventory reservations or in process orders.
