Braille Challenge
This year, the student programming team is offering regional opportunities for students to participate in the Braille Challenge, paired with Expanded Core Curriculum activities.
The Braille Challenge is an academic contest for any blind or visually impaired student in first through twelfth grades who can read and write braille. Contestants are tested on fundamental braille skills such as:
- Reading Comprehension
- Spelling
- Speed and Accuracy
- Proofreading
- Charts and Graphs
The Braille Challenge has different areas you are competing in based on what age you are. They are as follows:
- Foundational Skills – Pre braille skills (not an area that qualifies for nationals)
- Apprentice – 1st and 2nd grades
- Freshman – 3rd and 4th grades
- Sophomore – 5th and 6th grades
- Junior Varsity – 7th, 8th, and 9th grades
- Varsity – 10th, 11th, and 12th grades

- Chippewa Falls, January 31, 2025, paired with a Goalball event
- Janesville, February 14, 2025 (Snow date February 20, 2025)
- Green Bay February 28, 2025 (8:00 am – noon) - Lunch will be provided if you attend both Braille Challenge and the Expanded Core Curriculum event in Green Bay .
